The Rules

BUILT TO LAST - challenge for tattooers 

1. Physical Discipline (choose one)

• 45 min movement

• Gym, yoga, walking, mobility, boxing, etc.

• Must be intentional (not “working on your feet”)

 

Why: Tattooing destroys bodies quietly. This is preventative armor.

 

2. Artistic Skill Practice (45 min)

 

Must be deliberate practice, not tattooing clients.

 

Examples:

• Freehand drawing

• Redrawing old tattoos better

• Studying anatomy / flow / composition

• Black & grey value studies

• Painting / charcoal / digital studies

• Master study (copy a piece you respect)

 

No phone (unless for reference)No multitasking.

 

3. Business Development (30 min)

One focused business task daily.

 

Rotate between:

• Reviewing booking process

• Refining pricing structure

• Writing better client responses

• Studying another successful tattooer’s business (not copying style)

• Website / portfolio curation

• Email list, deposits, contracts

• Financial tracking

• Brand clarity journaling

 

Rule: No scrolling “research.” Only execution.

I’ve been using a lot of my journaling to create content.  It helped me connect the dots 

 

4. Mental Discipline (10–20 min)

 

Choose one:

• Journaling

• Meditation / breathwork

• Reading philosophy, psychology, or art theory

• Therapy homework / reflection

• Stillness (no phone, no music)

 

This is where ego, comparison, and burnout get dismantled.

Reading philosophy and journaling have been most effective for me 

 

5. Social Media Boundary 

 

30 min max . Set timer in settings.   Add , not consume 

Download meta business suite. If you use your 30 min you can still conduct business without the feed. 

 

6. Nutrition & Substance Rule

 

Choose ONE framework and follow it for 88days:

• No alcohol

• Whole-food focused

• No fast food

• Protein target

• Hydration minimum

 

The rule is consistency, not perfection.

 

7. No Missed Days

• Miss one task → restart day 1

• No “make-ups”

• Travel days included 

 

Rest day.  Pick one day that best fits your schedule.  All passive work stays, this means No work out, No drawing, No business.  Time for friends and families.  

 

Rise and repeat for 88days.
